A place filled with many stories and a very colorful history, mainly associated with drugs, crime, and fighting between cartels. A place that has been attracting us for years, and which has become a phenomenon due to the Narcos series that Colombians don't like at all, notably because of the non-Colombian accent of Don Pablo, but also because of the distorted facts.
We were prepared for everything: dirt, dangers, intrusive attitude, assault, raid, but also for shooting and so with only one backpack we set off for our dream, for another adventure. The first complication occurred with the CopaAir airline. You have to be in Airport 3 hours before the flight (which is not listed anywhere). No one knows if you really need Yellow Fever vaccination, you must have a return ticket, but no one knows whether it is from the country or whether it is enough back to Europe. But as I say, no one knows, so just argument and go for your rights. With few hours delay we land in Colombia and one sentence is enough "Love at first sight." The atmosphere was breathtaking. Buildings, streets, people - so original like nowhere else.
We left few stories from Bogota just for ourselves, but you have 100% recommendation to go to Colombia and experience it for yourself. Even blondes are allowed! And there's nothing to worry about, just be prepared for everything:)
Must see by Besties:
Monserrate - A mountain overlooking the city, offers a magnificent view of this 8 million city. You can climb to the summit for free or take a 10-minute tram ride. Botero Museum - Unique view of the world through thick glass :) or the capture of excessive thickness. Free entry. http://www.banrepcultural.org/bogota/museo-botero Museum de Oro - Museum with the largest collection of gold in the world attracts mainly by golden raft, you must see! :) http://www.banrepcultural.org/bogota/museo-del-oro Plaza de Bolivar - It comes alive in the dark, so throw away all the fear, put some money in your socks and / or bra and go to the local, it's worth it. Barrio La Candelaria - The heart of Bogota and its oldest part can't be omitted. Day or night you will experience things / people / situations as you do anywhere else in the world. The smell of weed is straight from all sides. Special individuals, music, stalls, containers from cargo containers, theatre, tattoo saloons, pubs, bowling alloys and especially Chicha, lightly fermented drink drunk by Tolteks, Inks, Mayans and now by us, besties.cz, girls from Czech. Made from everything possible, we had a version made of corn that the local women chew, then they spit it into a large pot and leave to ferment. Served in special cups that you can hang on your neck so that you can not lose it and you can fill it up at any time :) Ajiaco Soup - Ideally at La Puerta Falsa you have to taste this chicken soup with potatoes, corn, avocado and rice and you will not want another :) Apropós this restaurant is the oldest in the city. Dance club - If you, as well as us, manage friendship with locals, do not be afraid to go to the club. It's wild and sparkling atmosphere there and they don't get you out of the dance floor. We danced salsa, chacha and other couples.
Free Walking Bogotá - Just visit www.beyondcolombia.com/ and learn about history and present within 4 hours, while exploring the capital of Bogota. The tour is in English and Spanish. Voluntary fee.
Cathedral de Sal - Approximately 2 hours from the center of Bogota, it takes to reach the city of Zipaquira, where you will find a unique world salt cathedral. It's the only one of its kind in the world, but if you wait for the cathedral in the true sense of the word, do not expect it. It is an underground complex that was created by the mining of salt and subsequently there were installed "pilgrimage sites". Unique and breathtaking experience, but the word of the cathedral does not suit us. Among other things, there is also a cave area for souvenir shops, fast food, and you can also rent this place for a wedding. https://www.catedraldesal.gov.co/
